Journey to the Unknown, the debut album by Nana Osei Twum Barima will be released on CD, Vinyl LP and digital on the 12th June 2026 (Zephyrus Records).
A deeply personal body of work shaped by his emigration from Ghana to Belgium, his family’s role in upholding ancient musical traditions and his personal coming of age.
Drawing from Akan musical forms, the arrangements take from Ghanaian, South Asian, and Western string traditions pulled all into the same space.
With guest musicians Roland Van Campenhout, Nicolas Mortelmans, Kaito Winse, Lara Rosseel and Osei Korankye.

Nana Osei Twum Barima is a Ghanaian musician, singer, percussionist, and dancer based in Ghent, Belgium. Raised in a family of musicians, Nana carries forward a powerful legacy through the seperewa—an ancient Ghanaian harp-lute that has become his musical signature. With a background in traditional music and dance from the University of Winneba, he masterfully blends rhythm, melody, and movement to create immersive live experiences rooted in Ghana’s rich musical heritage.Nana performs both solo and with his band, weaving influences from Kundum, Akom, Palmwine, and Nwomkro into a sound that is both timeless and deeply personal. His performances connect past and present, inviting audiences into a soulful and vibrant journey through West African culture. He has collaborated with respected Belgian artists such as Dirk Brossé, Lara Rosseel, Roland Van Campenhout, and Kyekyeku.
Whether on festival stages, in theaters, or at cultural events, Nana Osei offers more than a concert—he shares stories, tradition, and joy. His music speaks across cultures and generations, making him a unique voice in contemporary traditional music.
